Mobile Web Traffic on the Rise Across the Globe

Mobile web traffic is on the rise across the globe.

Global website traffic
Mobile web traffic is on the rise across the globe.  China ranks as number one for the most mobile phones followed by India, the United States, Brazil, and Indonesia.  Recently Pingdom.com reported that mobile website traffic has risen 10.01% on average.

North American mobile web traffic from mobile devices accounted for 7.96%, while in South America, it only accounts for a mere 2.86%, the study found.

“The first European country is the United Kingdom with 10.71%.  Some countries are already closing in on 50% of web traffic coming from mobiles – with Indiain the lead – it’s safe to assume this development will only continue Pingdom said.”

“It’s worth noting that Europe scored a 183.43% increase in mobile web traffic browsing over this period, not that far behind Asia. But with the mobile share only increasing from 1.81% to 5.13%, Europe is still far behind both Africa and Asia when it comes to the percentage of users accessing the web using mobiles,” the group added.

Mobile browsing in Africa has surged 155.6% over the past two years – from 5.81% in 2010, to 14.85%.

People accessing the web from their mobiles in Asia rose 192.5% over two years to 17.84%.

The group compiled a list of countries with the highest share of mobile traffic as part of total web traffic with Africa amassing six countries, and Asia, four.

  • 48.87% –India
  • 47.09% –Zambia
  • 44.95% –Sudan
